Help my heart to hear Your sound<br />
Speak into my life, Lord, speak now<br />
Slow me down, oh Lord, slow me down<br />
<br />
Clear my mind, oh Lord, clear my mind<br />
Bring me peace that I cannot find<br />
Take my worried thoughts, break my pride<br />
Clear my mind, oh Lord, clear my mind<br />
<br />
Wake my soul, oh Lord, wake my soul<br />
With this mess I’ve made make me whole<br />
Of this life called mine take control<br />
Wake my soul, oh Lord, wake my soul<br />
<br />
(song by Robbie Seay Band)<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54487/146/38FAFDA418930A8F674EF4F26A1A3423.png" style="background: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px;" /></a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">PS - If you don't think you'll make it to page 3, I would at least like to share a special financial need with you... The retreat for LAM Mexico missionaries is March 8-11. LAM has invited Armando to come as well, in order for him to get to know the LAM President, Personnel Director, Member Care Director & of course LAM’s other missionaries in Mexico. This will be so important for Armando to feel like a fellow LAM missionary, versus just the husband of one! However, I currently do not have the funds to attend myself, much less for Armando to come along. We would need an estimated $500 for the retreat itself & another $800 for transportation from Tijuana to Cuernavaca. If you feel led to give special gift to help us attend this LAM missionary retreat together, you can do so at <a href="http://www.lam.org/missionaries/megan-riggott">http://www.lam.org/missionaries/megan-riggott</a>!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">PPS - Wondering who Armando is and why he'll be the husband of an LAM missionary? I told you that you should have read the update!</div>Magihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15846070295632564252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8122714685599845637.post-81376206415329049232012-01-18T18:19:00.005-08:002012-02-28T15:38:44.323-08:00yes, it's true...<div style="text-align: justify;">...I'm engaged! Armando "officially" asked me to marry him at our church's anniversary celebration on December 18th. (He asked me in front of my parents over Skype that morning too... and had already given me the ring earlier that week... and had pretty much proposed the day we started dating, so... yeah, it's official now!)<br />

They are of course just that - things - and may seem like rather small details, but I hope that these posts will give you a better feel of my life here in TJ!<br />
<br />
I hope that this can also serve as an exercise in gratitude for me, of remembering my many small blessings (<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eaGxLZrLuk">Sound of Music style!</a>):<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">"These are a few of my favorite things...</div><div style="text-align: center;">When the dog bites,</div><div style="text-align: center;">When the bee stings,</div><div style="text-align: center;">When I'm feeling sad,</div><div style="text-align: center;">I simply remember my favorite things,</div><div style="text-align: center;">And then I don't feel so bad..."</div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">So without further ado, <strong><em>a few of my favorite things</em> </strong>from today:</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqnGJySfum6N3XLRJSjSV_Wb9d0Qk1SkbVGsPTdg154YJxfe0DiOPghyTxw7T5Mt3kWHeUP0KVz3HjZn7FycRAuZfy8VelRoJ_kF9XH7CS1Vr9uZfnvYnlTm7oK0EVdCRIWLLks63yxrBB/s1600/camila+014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" oda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqnGJySfum6N3XLRJSjSV_Wb9d0Qk1SkbVGsPTdg154YJxfe0DiOPghyTxw7T5Mt3kWHeUP0KVz3HjZn7FycRAuZfy8VelRoJ_kF9XH7CS1Vr9uZfnvYnlTm7oK0EVdCRIWLLks63yxrBB/s320/camila+014.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">My new (to-me) rain boots! While I was in MN this past spring I spent months looking for boots just like my mom's, which I thought would be perfect for Tijuana's rainy (and thus, very muddy) season. I found nothing that was quite right. My mom finally took pity on me and gave me her boots and they have been just wonderful at keeping my feet dry and warm. Especially on days like today when I spend the morning trekking through the rain, walking through mud and puddles to take a neighborhood kid to the dentist... Thanks Mom!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />

I'm cooking a lot more often these days, and trying to learn how to cook more Mexican food, so chopping onions is a must. I like my onions chopped very small but it seems to take me forever to do this by hand (especially because I don't have very sharp knives), so when my friend <a href="http://throughmommygoggles.blogspot.com/">Jenna</a>'s family was getting rid of some of their kitchen things, I decided to give this device a try. It's been great! The kids have fun using it and I don't have to worry so much about they cutting a finger off while they're helping me cook. Today I used it to chop the onion for some <a href="http://www.favoritebrandrecipes.com/Recipes/025/8166001025.htm">Potato & Spinach Soup with Gouda</a> that I'm trying out in my crockpot (another <em><strong>one of</strong></em> <em><strong>my favorite things</strong>!) </em>on this chilly day... Thanks Jenna and family!</div><br />

I was by the post office today, so stopped in to check my mailbox, which is usually empty... but today there was a note from a friend from my church back in MN! It's always such a blessing to get real hand-written mail from back home... (If you want to send me some, my address is: Megan Riggott, Apartado Postal 569, Tijuana BC 22000, MEXICO.) Because, mail is definately <strong><em>one of</em></strong> <strong><em>my favorite things</em>!</strong> Thanks Cathy!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<br />
<a href="http://inashoe.com/2011/12/giveaway-blu-track-racetrack/"><strong><span style="font-size: large;">Help me win a BluTrack racetrack for our children's ministry here in Mexico!</span></strong></a><br />
<br />
As you probably know, a big part of my ministry here in Tijuana is relationship-building with the neighborhood kids. That said, I'm always looking for sturdy low-maintanaince toys that encourage creativity to have on hand at home for the kiddos who are over all the time!<br />

So head on over to <a href="http://inashoe.com/2011/12/giveaway-blu-track-racetrack/">Life in a Shoe</a> where there's a bunch of ways to enter this giveaway, and if you were to win but don't want/need the prize yourself, you can donate it to us here in Tijuana!</div><br />

(and a new LAM website)<div style="text-align: justify;">So, after 3 weeks of no electricity* after my house fire, it’s back! Which means a) I can be there after 5pm without feeling like I’m in a romantic candlelit restaurant and b) I have internet again! Though it was kind of fun at times, especially cooking Thanksgiving dinner by candlelight and playing Rummykub while we waited out a storm...</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEherCARariDiTdV3bMza8l7IH6l3V8q6X6qGGFS3kuu-JqxB3fu2LfgHStic0WkP9Ih1nLc4GUZIOsg3xeLNQ68rxHwVwdKYLHetF8d5bGoObnhboaxB3saNeG_TdDpZT-12JNZBj9_orrp/s1600/let+there+be+light.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="cssfloat: left; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" dda="true" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEherCARariDiTdV3bMza8l7IH6l3V8q6X6qGGFS3kuu-JqxB3fu2LfgHStic0WkP9Ih1nLc4GUZIOsg3xeLNQ68rxHwVwdKYLHetF8d5bGoObnhboaxB3saNeG_TdDpZT-12JNZBj9_orrp/s400/let+there+be+light.jpg" width="345" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">In other exciting news, LAM (Latin America Mission) has a <a href="http://www.lam.org/">new website</a> (still found at <a href="http://www.lam.org/">http://www.lam.org/</a>) and you can now set up your recurring monthly donations online! Many of you have mentioned that this would be very helpful, so if you are someone who was considering giving monthly but haven’t done so because the process was either too complicated and/or you just keep forgetting, just head over to <a href="http://riggott.lam.org/">riggott.lam.org</a> and click on “support this missionary” at the bottom of the page. I’m still a bit underfunded each month, so if you’re able and willing to support my ministry in Mexico through a monthly donation, I would GREATLY APPRECIATE it! Or, you can give a special gift online to help increase the balance in my ministry accounts (all gifts are tax-deductible). So please check out the new website and/or giving options, and let me know what you think!</div><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">This is really more of a belated August update! If you keep up with this blog, you've probably already had the chance to read about how our August children's ministry events went and see some <em>fotos</em> of such. If not, I invite you to <a href="http://hacermemoria.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/megan-in-mexico-september-111.pdf">CLICK HERE to take a look at this update</a> and my recent blog posts.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>IMPORTANT SUPPORT UPDATE:</strong> One other thing that I shared in this update is that I'm in great need of one-time (or regular!) donations. Due to a regular deficit (my monthly donations don't quite cover my expenses) as well as the extra expenses during the month of August, I have just about depleted all of my reserve funds in my Support account, as well as my Work Funds and Travel/Equipment accounts. If you are willing to give towards my ministry in Mexico, you can <a href="https://www.lam.org/donate/missionary.php?misid=760110">DONATE HERE</a>. Please pray with me that God would provide for my financial needs so that I can continue this ministry here in Tijuana.</div><br />

This event is put on every August by a US ministry along with a group of local Tijuana churches to distribute backpacks filled with school supplies. This was the 2nd year that we've been invited to participate.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">This year the event was done carnival-style, with each church running a booth with a game. The kids went around to the booths and won tickets, which they could then use to buy food and prizes.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmr-b9X9orkv4YfTmx08EbjHVSeoB1KI8qz9b-y-Qj0UmBoGgFOsT0_keRfkEpPMVLgMCGGf1R9ZhqRNOAoHyUDfShgVyYtLZ_ct38VqnacSZduqBAWLNSINmIag0A9HM32yZKPjqu0aEk/s1600/gallito+0.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" rba="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmr-b9X9orkv4YfTmx08EbjHVSeoB1KI8qz9b-y-Qj0UmBoGgFOsT0_keRfkEpPMVLgMCGGf1R9ZhqRNOAoHyUDfShgVyYtLZ_ct38VqnacSZduqBAWLNSINmIag0A9HM32yZKPjqu0aEk/s400/gallito+0.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">Our booth hosted <em>El Gallito</em> ("The Rooster"), a game that gets it's name from the Mexican <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cockfight">cockfight</a>. Balloons are tied onto each ankle, and the winner is whoever can pop all of the other person's balloons, using only one's feet. It was hilarious and a huge hit!</div><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">The kids all received new backpacks with school supplies... and by the time I'm actually posting this update are back in school! Summer has been full of fun, but I for one am glad it's over... I'm ready for cooler weather and a calmer pace for a while!<br />

If you would be willing to help with the expenses incurred for this event (a total of $81.48 is needed), you can <a href="https://www.lam.org/donate/missionary.php?misid=760110">donate here</a> to my WORK FUNDS... thank you!</div><br />

It was a much needed change-of-pace during a month full of children's ministry events!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">For me, the four day conference was full of learning, networking and encouraging conversations with fellow medical missionaries. Oh, and of course the all-important CEUs (continuing education hours)! Some of my favorite plenaries and workshops included:</div><div align="left" style="text-align: justify;"><ul><li><span style="font-size: x-small;">Neighborhood Transformation Introductory Seminar</span></li>
<li><a href="http://healthcaremissions.org/Lectures/2011/CalledtoCare.pdf" target="_blank" title="PDF file"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Called to Care</span></a></li>
<li><span style="font-size: x-small;">When Helping Doesn't Hurt: Keys to Community Transformation</span></li>
<li><a href="http://healthcaremissions.org/Lectures/2011/Steffes.pdf"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Personal Challenges in Delivering Medical Care in the Developing World</span></a></li>
<li><span style="font-size: x-small;">Forgiveness in Medicine and Missions</span></li>
<li><a href="http://healthcaremissions.org/Lectures/2011/Depression.pdf" target="_blank" title="PDF file"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Healing from Depression: Body, Mind and Spirit</span></a></li>
<li><span style="font-size: x-small;">Making Tough Choices: From Med Student to Jungle Family Missions</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: x-small;">Health Issues Faced by Hispanic Protestants</span></li>
</ul></div><div style="text-align: justify;">My hands-down favorites was the talk and workshop that <a href="http://healthcaremissions.org/DavidLevy.html">Dr David Levy</a> gave on forgiveness. Dr Levy is a neurosurgeon who spent his Sabbatical "traveling throughout South America teaching forgiveness and emotional/physical healing in prisons and orphanages" and who offers to pray with each of his patients. His stories and message were powerful and I'd highly recommend his book <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Gray-Matter-Neurosurgeon-Discovers-Patient/dp/1414339755"><em>Grey Matter</em></a>!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">While attending the conference, I had the privilege of staying with my friend Annie (also known as Anita, Anita la Huerfanita, Anita la Bruta, etc). Anita and I met in Tijuana in 2005 when she spent several weeks here as a short-term missionary and ended up sleeping in my bedroom... So she's from Tennessee, I'm from Minnesota, we met in Tijuana, and now we reunite each year in Pasadena where she lives now! I was so blessed by the time I was able to spend with Annie... <em>¡</em><em>gracias Anita!</em></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS_2cEox8dP1WyQ42KSLaAvudzIBY5HBk4d4Q_EwX4iaUOIkLVuI90Oqatj2vBrFju0CaKkFRkZOD2HztNPafvzWQWayXaAz6GvZTNQr30nMTx3lk7e2dal7gv7sqxKUrpXHz3CIKvjJmS/s1600/anita.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" rba="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS_2cEox8dP1WyQ42KSLaAvudzIBY5HBk4d4Q_EwX4iaUOIkLVuI90Oqatj2vBrFju0CaKkFRkZOD2HztNPafvzWQWayXaAz6GvZTNQr30nMTx3lk7e2dal7gv7sqxKUrpXHz3CIKvjJmS/s400/anita.jpg" width="297" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
If you're willing to help with the expenses incurred to attend this conference (a total of $277.90 is needed), you can <a href="https://www.lam.org/donate/missionary.php?misid=760110">donate here</a> to my TRAV & EQUIP fund... thank you!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">I have the privilege of "borrowing" Gioner (and sometimes his big brother Israel) each Monday evening while their mama is at school and their grandma is at church. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Titis and Tolón are also sort of my way of marking my time here in TJ... God started growing Israel is his mama's belly right around the time of my first summer here 8 years ago (see <a href="http://megan-in-mexico.blogspot.com/2009/05/feliz-cumple-israel.html">this post</a>), and Gioner just as I moved here 1.5 years ago. <em>O sea,</em> my relationships with those here in Tijuana commenced just as Israel's life began, just has my life as a long-term resident here started just as Gioner was conceived. So as I watch these two precious boys grow and marvel at how big they are getting, I also marvel at the length of time that God has allowed me to be a part of this community!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />

Less than two weeks ago we finally were about to rescue <em>La Paloma</em> from prison (aka the impound lot)! We've already put it to good use transporting the kids to various church outings, etc. Thank you so much for your prayers!</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj85sJDDL0usGOxuA9-iAvNn1iTTEbJw0abOUmCHx1SZjNPz7ypV2uFxvc_77UskC5RBT51f8GnFCXbdfWN_jXuppwtB6PpbASmcQYsnNOOP44D7cHEo4UTvMZ1iiBZnCvaX-aHCmr6s3GX/s1600/068.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj85sJDDL0usGOxuA9-iAvNn1iTTEbJw0abOUmCHx1SZjNPz7ypV2uFxvc_77UskC5RBT51f8GnFCXbdfWN_jXuppwtB6PpbASmcQYsnNOOP44D7cHEo4UTvMZ1iiBZnCvaX-aHCmr6s3GX/s400/068.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Second of all, I must share with you all about the other night's highly humorous adventure involving <em>La Paloma</em>. You see, during it's three months of imprisonment, it apparently developed a short in it's wiring, causing the hazard and dome lights to remain on even when the motor is off, in turn causing the battery to lose it's charge very quickly if it's not disconnected.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">The other night, Nereida had asked me if I could pick up some formula for her baby while I was out. Well, I forgot. It is yet to be determined if the fault of the following circumstances lies with me for forgetting or for Gioner for drinking milk in the first place...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Anyways, I offered to give her a ride to the nearest grocery store that stays open until 11pm (it was 10pm at this time). We piled into <em>La Paloma</em> along with her eight year-old son, and headed for Calimax. Except Calimax was out of the particular formula that Gioner drinks. So we decided to continue on to the pharmacy Roma, which is open all night. Except on our way their we realized we needed gas. So we pulled into the first of two gas stations on the way to the pharmacy. Except they only had premium gas and we didn't have very much cash. So we headed to the next gas station, arriving just before the truck ran out of gas completely, and put a few bucks worth into the tank. Except then <em>La Paloma</em> wouldn't start - that would be the aforementioned battery problem. And no one had jumper cables. What to do?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">After analyzing the situation, we decided to call our friend Alberto. He answered, obviously awoken by my phone call, and I shared that Nereida and I were stranded as <em>La Paloma</em> had died along Fundadores (the very long boulevard on the way into downtown). Then my phone died, before I was able to give any specifics. NOW, what to do?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Nereida had no credit on her cell phone, but lucky for us, the gas stations have just begun to offer phone recharges! So we asked for a 30 pesos recharge, the smallest they had available. Except they were out of recharges. So we asked the gas station attendent if he could keep an eye on the truck while we walked the rest of the way to the pharmacy. He responded laughingly by saying that no one could steal it anyways since the battery was dead, but agreed to allow us to leave it there (not that he could do much else, anyways!). So we headed to the pharmacy, only to find out that they had neither recharges nor the needed formula available. I made a mad dash to the grocery store nearby, only to find that they had just closed. We decided to spend our limited cash supply on a 100 peso recharge card, which the pharmacy did have in stock. We put the recharge onto Nereida's phone, just in time for her phone to die too. It was getting close to midnight and we had a dead car battery and two dead phone batteries. NOW, what do do?!?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">We had enough coins to use the pay phone, but neither of us knew Alberto's phone number. (And our phones are dead, remember.) Nereida did remember her mother-in-law's number so we called that and her brother-in-law promised to send her other brother-in-law to rescue us. So knowing that jumper cables were on the way, we headed back to the gas station. After being back there for a few minutes, Alberto arrived. He had been driving up and down Fundadores looking for the stranded <em>Paloma</em>. We attempted to call the brother-in-laws back, but the pay phone wouldn't take coins anymore. So, of course, just as Alberto got <em>La Paloma</em> started again, Armando arrives. But since his services were no longer needed, he gladly headed back home without being too upset at the false alarm.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Cheered that we had a working vehicle again, we then realized that we still didn't have the formula which we had come out for in the first place. Alberto agreed to accompany us downtown, as we weren't too excited about driving around that area alone in the middle of the night. The gas station attendent once again graciously allowed us to leave the truck there, and we hopped into Alberto's car. We arrived at another Roma 24-hour pharmacy on the outskirts of downtown, but they too were out of the necessary formula. We then tried an Oxxo convenience store, as Alberto insisted that they carry formula which Nereida did not believe, but they were locking the doors just as we arrived. We finally made the trek to Revolution Avenue, with it's bars and clubs that draw the night crowd and keep the stores and pharmacies open late. Deciding to take our chance at Oxxo again, the clerk there found one small can of the formula in the back. His words: "We always have anything you need - anything legal, that is. That's why we're Oxxo."</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Alberto dropped us back at the gas station and we climbed back into <em>La Paloma, </em>arriving home just after 1am. The moral of the story? You decide:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">A) Find some jumper cables for the truck.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">B) Find some money to fix the truck's electrical issues.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">C) Don't turn the motor off when getting gas.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">D) Make sure at least 1 cell phone is charged when going out at night.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">E) Wean baby Gioner off formula ASAP.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">F) Try the Oxxo 5 minutes from home.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiNMSH-Lapq4K7fY9-SZ5eY88Eti5rRf8CHznapbN10LLhg7ky3MHmzPamQe9SAYYXMrMnE3U7Zk3PjVYc6f5p3K2AFpJB4Acszatza5D7wPiKZX7I5mCqrFsTHcH5ymmPtVDMHtcJhkon/s1600/062.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiNMSH-Lapq4K7fY9-SZ5eY88Eti5rRf8CHznapbN10LLhg7ky3MHmzPamQe9SAYYXMrMnE3U7Zk3PjVYc6f5p3K2AFpJB4Acszatza5D7wPiKZX7I5mCqrFsTHcH5ymmPtVDMHtcJhkon/s400/062.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54487/146/38FAFDA418930A8F674EF4F26A1A3423.png" style="background: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px;" /></a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">PS - We repeated a small portion of this adventure yesterday, searching for more formula as the aforementioned small can had already been consumed. We (perhaps unwisely) skipped option "F" above due to price constraints, then were debating which direction to head (after the first 3 stores failed us) in order to conserve gas. Thankfully it was daylight, we both had fully charged phones, and it only took 5 total stores and a call to brother-in-law #1 (who ended up finding a can in another neighborhood where he was working and guarding it with his life until we arrived) before the infamous formula was obtained. All this is leading me to encourage Nere to go with option "E" above...!</div>Magihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15846070295632564252noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8122714685599845637.post-24744733491719729842011-06-28T07:56:00.004-07:002011-11-18T13:31:39.404-08:00cholitos<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuqIf7t0nW_PZ9CZ8fjy31Zg2pO4b9gx7P9zRvAKBzUqDZU7EtndFe7SwdIiiXqeOwYv8TGCI09ZYbMGMPnkIlQV7Vnr294ZuomHRh-ITNySqCpoo520LIauX_Dgc3TBH-gvCvEbB4EBzJ/s1600/choc+ice+cream%252C+by+bigotes+187.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300px" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuqIf7t0nW_PZ9CZ8fjy31Zg2pO4b9gx7P9zRvAKBzUqDZU7EtndFe7SwdIiiXqeOwYv8TGCI09ZYbMGMPnkIlQV7Vnr294ZuomHRh-ITNySqCpoo520LIauX_Dgc3TBH-gvCvEbB4EBzJ/s400/choc+ice+cream%252C+by+bigotes+187.JPG" width="400px" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1bw57067bg0u_nIo6Kq8Vy2swXjysiSa5D22D3mUD2gw1loGsxD-uzHg2lcooLcsTGozPQLMYcpkC2A-U_Ss6FZUXHsc4nFs5XZ6cH7GkPNTQf-ErcYCiejZ8marlCOyQWvVNIAz_wADz/s1600/choc+ice+cream%252C+by+bigotes+191.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300px" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1bw57067bg0u_nIo6Kq8Vy2swXjysiSa5D22D3mUD2gw1loGsxD-uzHg2lcooLcsTGozPQLMYcpkC2A-U_Ss6FZUXHsc4nFs5XZ6cH7GkPNTQf-ErcYCiejZ8marlCOyQWvVNIAz_wADz/s400/choc+ice+cream%252C+by+bigotes+191.JPG" width="400px" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAj7q5395f2P70osoCX6sXbhL4a_cxLFijibYucA1X3Ja6gi69YjhOEUl7N3WgYdMsHgUKOKTSZ0gJkx4R-2ZeDp4qkIoNrADUw9eTQbXpPMui5waKME_LR-wTyKuh7VtCiXHM2TrPk3kC/s1600/choc+ice+cream%252C+by+bigotes+193.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300px" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAj7q5395f2P70osoCX6sXbhL4a_cxLFijibYucA1X3Ja6gi69YjhOEUl7N3WgYdMsHgUKOKTSZ0gJkx4R-2ZeDp4qkIoNrADUw9eTQbXpPMui5waKME_LR-wTyKuh7VtCiXHM2TrPk3kC/s400/choc+ice+cream%252C+by+bigotes+193.JPG" width="400px" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
A few of my favorite cholitos from my neighborhood! (So far the best literal English translation of <em>cholo</em> that I've come up with is "gangster," but that doesn't quite capture it...) I especially like how one of them is much more interested in his ice cream than in acting tough!</div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">In other news, I've added a new page to my blog! On this page I hope to share resources that have helped me in my life and ministry in Tijuana. I hope that these resources might also help YOU to have a better understanding of my context & that of my neighbors, so that you would better know how to pray & support us... Please check it out and let me know what you think!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

If we don't get it out by July 7th, we will lose the truck, but also the fee increases each day that it remains impounded. As summer vacation approaches, we especially hope to have <em>La Paloma</em> back for children's ministry events!<br />
<br />
ADDENDUM: Ok, so I keep go back and forth on this. On one hand we could really use the truck especially for the kids; on the other it will mean more responsibilities for me that I'm not sure if I want or need, and while seemingly practical and necessary might take away from what my priorities truly should be (see last prayer request on PRAY page). Oh, but I'm so very fond of <em>La Paloma,</em> it would be so sad to lose it. Anyways, I'm ammending my prayer request to this: that God's will be done!<br />
