Yesterday was German’s birthday! German was one of my first friends in Tijuana, when I was a clueless hardly-Spanish-speaking gringa attempting to “help” at the Asilo…

He was only eight or so at the time, but came every day to help (and surely his efforts accomplished much more than did mine!) with the ancianos. I remember being so amazed watching this little boy help elderly men to the bathroom or just love on his many abuelitas.

Now German is growing up so fast and I pray that God will continue to grow him into the young man that He created him to be.
