minority

Earlier today I biked to the bank near my apartment in order to get a roll of quarters for the laundrymat and parking meters. It was full of people, and as I waited in the long line, I realized that I was the only white person there (including both the customers and the tellers)! There were many Latinos, some Somalians, a few Asians and African Americans, and probably some other ethnicities too. I loved it...it was like being in a foreign country right in my own neighborhood! Really though, I am so glad to live and work where there is so much diversity, as it teaches me so much - about others, about myself, and about my God. And this kind of experience is always good preparation for Mexico, where I'll always be the minority...
