somersaults, slides, and gorgeous gymnastics
I realized that I haven’t posted any pictures of my sobrinita recently and thought that I should remedy that situation! Yesterday we brought Camille and Isabel to the pre-school open gym at International Gymnastics of MN, which is the home of my former rhythmic gymnastics team (though it's in a nice new building now, all we had back in my day was carpet pieces that we'd roll out each day wherever we happened to be practicing at the time). The girls had a great time running and jumping and climbing and rolling! Here’s a foto and a video for you all:
The rhythmic girls were practicing so we also were able to watch them do routines...Camille liked to clap at the end of each "dance." Good luck to Sarah and Michelle who are competing later this week to reclaim their spots on the National team!
(If you want to watch some routines yourself, here's a few from the Rhythmic Challenge earlier this year: Michelle's ball, hoop, rope and ribbon routines and Sarah's ball, rope and ribbon routines...if you're just going to watch one, I'd recommend Michelle's ball - it's gorgeous! When I was competing/coaching, they were just little tiny girls, and now they're grown up into some beautiful gymnasts!)
I do miss it...

Oh man, I totally missed my calling in life! I was meant to do rhythmic gymnastics! The floor was my favorite (I was scared of everything else), and I've always had fun dancing (with and without ribbons), I am a skilled hula hooper, and I'm always trying to figuring out how many times I can clap or do something while I throw a ball in the air and still be able to catch it. Bummer it just clicked for me now after watching those routines. That Michelle girl is ridiculously flexible! She is amazing! Let me know when she goes to the Olympics! Well, even though I might have "missed" my calling, I think God has me where He wants me for now. I'm so excited for you to get to Mexico!
Michelle was 4th at Nationals and Sarah was 7th! Both made the national team...congrats girls!
